Elephant
As the elephant comes into view, the wavy heat radiating off the desert floor seems to be playing tricks with your eyes and making the elephant's normal coloration a fascinating mix of blues and grays. His ears, which help to control body temperature, are fluttering wildly and you aren't sure if it is the mid-day sun sitting directly overhead or a trick of the binoculars you are looking through but it is almost as if you can see the intensity of his body heat being released before your eyes. As the elephant shifts and turns, the vista returns to normal but for a fleeting moment you feel you had been upgraded to the secret, behind-the-scenes, technicolor tour.
